With respect to the requirement of art, the probable impossible is always preferable to the improbable possible.

Aristotle
About This Quote

In this quote from the French critic Charles Baudelaire, he explains that with respect to art, the preferable is always possible. In other words, you can never really tell what a work of art will turn out to be. It might be a tremendous work of art, or it might be a mediocre one, but in general there is always a chance that it will turn out to be a masterpiece. If it turns out to be a masterpiece, then you will have gained an extraordinary result. However, if it turns out to be mediocre, you will still have gained something new.
